COVID-19 UPDATES

To our patients,

As you know your care and safety and the safety of our team is our top priority.

Recommendations to dental offices are changing rapidly regarding shelter in place, social distancing and essential dental treatment. We are working hard to remain compliant with the recommendation by the American Dental Association, California Dental Association and our Governor that California dentists suspend all care other than essential and emergency treatment.

If you have any questions regarding your dental care or have urgent concerns, please call us or send a direct message through our website; we are here for you and will be seeing emergency patients.

Our phones will be answered during our normal business hours and, as always, we can be reached outside of the business hours for any emergency calls.

We are looking forward to returning to patient care and the opportunity to once again visit with our dental family of patients…we miss you all!

Thank you for being our patients!

Are you struggling to smile, chew, or speak naturally because of missing or broken teeth? You’ve probably heard of a smile makeover and wondered if you are a good candidate for cosmetic dentistry. The short answer is, most likely, yes!

Whether you only suffer from tooth enamel discoloration or have more serious dental issues, remember, there are no naturally perfect smiles. Sharon B. Mateja, DDS, performs smile makeovers for anyone who wants to overhaul or rejuvenate the appearance of their mouth at our Rancho Cucamonga, CA, dental office. Find out if you are a good candidate for a smile makeover.

Conditions Smile Makeovers Address

Because the types of smile makeovers are as varied and unique as the people who benefit from them, any of the following conditions qualify:

  • Discolored or dull teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Misshapen or chipped teeth
  • Widely spaced or slightly overlapping teeth
  • Overgrown or receded gums

First, Dr. Mateja will examine you for oral health concerns, such as cavities or periodontal gum disease. Of course, as with many other dental procedures, your mouth needs to be healthy before Dr. Meteja performs a smile makeover. Once you’re healthy enough for treatment, she’ll recommend a customized plan to address your smile imperfections.

Discolored or Dull Teeth

Darkened tooth enamel is a fact of life, but fortunately, there are ways to whiten teeth stained by coffee, tea, wine, or smoking. Dr. Mateja offers multiple teeth whitening options to fit your needs and schedule, including at-home whitening kits and in-office Zoom!®. If your teeth are too stained for chemical or UV whitening treatments, porcelain dental veneers are a terrific option to brighten your teeth.

Missing Teeth

To replace lost teeth, you can opt for a traditional bridge or denture. At our Rancho Cucamonga practice, Dr. Mateja may also recommend dental implants for single, multiple, or full arch tooth replacement. Implants stimulate the jawbone like natural tooth roots to prevent the jawbone deterioration that’s common after tooth loss.

Dental implants improve quality of life, as well as a smile’s appearance, for patients who wear dentures. With implants, you will never need denture adhesives or relinings. Instead, your dentures will be secured directly to implant posts anchored in the jaw.

Misshapen, Chipped, or Oddly Spaced Teeth

Dental veneers are custom-made, ceramic overlays secured to the front surface of permanently stained, misshapen, chipped, or improperly spaced teeth. They truly transform a smile’s shape, color, and overall appearance.

Overgrown, Uneven, or Receded Gums

Some people naturally have overgrown gum tissue. It makes teeth look short and stubby, similar to baby teeth. Another common cosmetic problem is uneven gum tissue. WIth this condition, one tooth may appear oddly small or large. Usually, reshaping the gum line and removing excess tissue can reveal beautiful, shapely teeth that look more balanced.

Gum recession normally results from either brushing too hard or gum disease. When the gums recede, tooth roots not protected by tooth enamel are revealed. They can become sensitive when exposed to cold, heat, or pressure. Periodontal treatment for receded gums involves removing dead or dying gum tissue, along with bacteria. Then, a gum graft can be placed. The graft bonds with healthy, existing gum tissue to support teeth and cover sensitive tooth roots.

Dr. Mateja uses a laser to contour the gums. This tool replaces a scalpel and sutures. It trims and seals gum tissue, causing little or no bleeding. Because the gums experience minimal trauma, healing is quick.
